Molding and casting

This assignment started like the 3d scanning and printing assignment with the idea to produce a irregular form made by grasshopper. In this case i m using the voronoi structure with a fillet in the internal edges, this structure is extruded, but this extrusion is following the irregular form of a minimal surface between two curves.

Here i show how created this form, on the top of the photo i can show the way how to put the model into a box ready for exporting in the .stl extension to be milled on the Roland machine.

Then i used a mill of 3.18mm on the roland machine, in the machine were no mill of 3.18 mm so i created a new one starting from the default formats of a similar mill. Duplicate the 3mm mill and just change the diameter.

There where just two process of milling, one to take all the material out and the other for the finish the surface of the model.

And this is my final result! it brings me a lot of ideas for making products using generative geometry!

After this i decided to make more experiments particulary with the silicone for food, the experience was a little bit dirty, we had to use our own hands to mix the components of this material.

Here Satoshi and Vanessa, also fabbers here mixing the silicone for food with Carlos Pedreros a sculptor that teach us some tips about molds.

In the last photo i decided to put a coin to make chocolate coins!

More details! they look really like the real coins but in chocolate

Peso from Argentina

Finally the peruvian Sol in chocolate!
